ABOUT US

The chinchilejo Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) affiliated with the United Nations Sustainable Development Program (UNDP). It is a non-profit institution of applied knowledge, aimed at promoting the development of Sustainable Economies. Through research, training and concerted action, the Chinchilejo Foundation promotes the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources, biodiversity, and the empowerment of communities to achieve sustainable development in their homes, towns, and countries.

The foundation believes that the social, economic, and environmental aspects of human society should be seen as a single unit and should be presented in harmony and balance between the sum of its parts, thus being the only useful form in the search for solutions to the world’s problems. Likewise, the foundation promotes the development of knowledge through science, philosophy, and art as essential means of evolution for humanity.

OUR VISION

As a global institution of applied knowledge, the CHINCHILEJO Foundation is committed to creating impactful initiatives focused on sustainable development. We aim to implement permanent solutions to today’s problems by using the best scientific information and resources available. Our approach is coordinated and balanced, adhering to the principles of sustainable development.
Humanity’s most crucial advancement will be the practical application of sustainable practices. The current economic model often neglects the management of natural resources, failing to allow adequate time and conditions for essential ecological functions. Sustainable development is the only concept that can prevent human collapse and extinction. Therefore, it is imperative to move away from unsustainable economic practices. Promoting inclusive dialogue between managers, communities, and governments is essential. Prioritizing the needs of communities forms the foundation of a balanced production economy that aligns with sustainable development principles. This approach is vital for ensuring the continuity of life as we know it.
¿What sustainable development is?
Sustainable development is a comprehensive approach that balances economic growth, social progress, and environmental protection. It involves long-term planning and collaboration among various sectors and stakeholders, integrating sustainability principles into decision-making processes at all levels. This holistic strategy ensures that the needs of the present generation are met without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs, thereby creating a resilient, equitable, and prosperous future.

OUR MISSION

The development of joint initiatives between communities and local governments is essential for creating solid structures that support sustainable development. The CHINCHILEJO Foundation, founded on August 27, 2023, by law and regulation, emphasizes Sustainable Development as the cornerstone of economic progress. This foundation aims to provide a sustainable and enduring tool that stands against the unsustainable development policies of today.
In the face of current development practices, which prioritize the acquisition of non-essential material goods over the sustainable use of biodiversity, the Chinchilejo Foundation recognizes that biodiversity loss threatens human existence, physical integrity, and food security.
