The chinchilejo Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) affiliated with the United Nations Sustainable Development Program (UNDP). It is a non-profit institution of applied knowledge, aimed at promoting the development of Sustainable Economies. Through research, training and concerted action, the Chinchilejo Foundation promotes the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources, biodiversity, and the empowerment of communities to achieve sustainable development in their homes, towns, and countries.

The foundation believes that the social, economic, and environmental aspects of human society should be seen as a single unit and should be presented in harmony and balance between the sum of its parts, thus being the only useful form in the search for solutions to the world’s problems. Likewise, the foundation promotes the development of knowledge through science, philosophy, and art as essential means of evolution for humanity.

In the face of current development practices, which prioritize the acquisition of non-essential material goods over the sustainable use of biodiversity, the Chinchilejo Foundation recognizes that biodiversity loss threatens human existence, physical integrity, and food security.
